We understand that deciding whether or not to send your child to Penn Wynne Presbyterian School amid all of the uncertainty is very difficult, and we appreciate the complexity of the decisions that you are facing.
Our goal is to provide the best and most timely information we can so that you can make the best decisions for your family. We will endeavor to be flexible and as accommodating as possible this school year.
Masks
When the Community Level of COVID-19 is low or moderate, mask will be optional indoors and outdoors. If the Community Level moves to high or other conditions such as an outbreak within the school community, we may return to a mandatory mask policy.
Screening
We ask that parents and caregivers monitor their children and do not send them to school if they are presenting symptoms. We will no longer screen temperatures when entering the school.
Possible symptoms include:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Drop Off and Pick Up
AM Latchkey parents are asked to walk their children into the building rather than drop them off at the door
Preschool parents will drop their children off at their classrooms. AM Explorer parents may bring their children at the Explorer door in the mornings. The doors will open at 8:50am.
Preschool children will be dismissed from several locations depending on the class. Your child’s teacher will give you instructions as to where pick up will be. Lunch Bunch children may be dismissed from the blue door or in the playground.PM Latchkey parents may enter the school or playground to pick up their children

How are we preparing the school?
- Air filters have been added to each classroom
- Windows will be open as much as possible
- We are organizing the children into smaller groups
- Children will have breakaway lanyards for their masks to keep them from being misplaced
- The building will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day, a deeper cleaning and sanitization will occur each night
What can you do?
- Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of COVID-19 and be prepared to keep your child at home if they present any symptoms
- Have a backup plan in case school closes, your child becomes sick, or a quarantine is required
- Keep us informed of any decisions you have made regarding school
Will there be daily screening?
- Hand sanitizer will be available at the doors
- Parents will be permitted to drop off their children inside the building at the beginning of their day. Pick up will take place outside of the building- only our staff and essential supporting personnel will be allowed in the building while school is in session
How will tuition be handled?
What if we decide to delay sending our child to school?
- With all the uncertainty, we completely understand this decision. In order to hold your child’s spot in our school, we are asking for a 20% of monthly tuition as a retainer. For example, if your monthly tuition bill is $300, we will bill you for $60 a month to hold their spot.
What if we feel it would be better for our family to withdraw from the school for the 2021-2022 school year?
- Any money you have paid towards this school year will be refunded. If you are considering coming back this year, you may want to consider the 20% retainer to hold your child’s spot.
What if LMSD goes to a hybrid 2 day on/ 3 online schedule?
- If LMSD goes to a hybrid schedule, we can adjust your child’s Latchkey schedule to match the days they are in school. Your tuition would be reduced to include only the days you need. Latchkey hours are 7:00 am – 8:45 am and 3:15 pm- 6:00 pm. We will only be able to accommodate elementary school children during these hours
- Preschool and Explorers will remain on a 5 day schedule
What if a child becomes sick during the day?
- We will have a designated quarantined space in our building for that child. Parents will be expected to pick up their child immediately.

Preschool
How will you social distance preschoolers?
- We have added an additional class in order to keep our class sizes smaller. Mobility throughout the building will be limited. Children over 3 years old will be asked to wear masks. Each child will have their own box for supplies such as crayons, pencils, and scissors
How about Lunch Bunch?
- The kids will stay in the same groups of similar aged children each day to minimize exposure to other children in the building. At this time, we will not have any drop in Lunch Bunchers
Explorers
Will Explorers be open 5 days a week?
- Explorers will be open 5 days a week. At this time we are asking that our Explorers come either 4 or 5 days a week.
How will you social distance?
- We have purchased individual desks for each child. They will have their own bins for the school supplies, lunch box, and toys
- We will still pick children up from the bus line in the morning
Latchkey
- If LMSD goes to a hybrid scenario, you can adjust the days your child comes to LK. We will adjust your billing accordingly
- Children will need to keep a social distance on the walk to and from school.
- We will limit the number of children who can be on the playground at any time
- Children will be required to wear masks except while actively eating or drinking.
